Connections unveils details of flagship event in Oman

Press release: February 2023

Connections, the international private community for trusted decision-makers in luxury travel, has revealed final details of the programme for its second flagship event in Oman.

Connections Luxury Middle East will run in partnership with the Sultanate of Oman Ministry of Heritage & Tourism from 4-7 March and aims to establish long-term meaningful trade relationships between international and GCC markets.

The event will be supported by leading brands including Jumeirah Muscat Bay; Abundance Tourism; Shangri-La Barr Al Jissah and Al Bustan Palace, a Ritz-Carlton Hotel.

Connections Luxury Middle East will connect luxury buyers with suppliers using the Connections Way – a pioneering approach to facilitating long-lasting business relationships through memorable, shared experiences. During targeted, one-to-one meetings, buyers and suppliers will be able to enjoy authentic, local activities while enjoying some of the finest beaches and scenery along the Gulf of Oman. Optional early morning experiences include hiking, sunrise yoga and open-water swimming. Invited media will also be in attendance.

Alongside pre-scheduled meeting appointments, delegates will take part in an educational programme which will see Sarah Hedley Hymers, editorial director of Connections sister brand Connecting Travel, explore how the latest trends in the GCC region can be used as a tool to connect with consumers.

Expedition leader and survivalist Dr. Raj Joshi will also share inspiring journeys that have pushed the limits of human performance and understanding. Amongst his achievements, he has led David Beckham through the Amazon rainforest, looked after Josh Brolin in the Himalayas and helped the English Rugby Football Union stage the highest altitude game of rugby ever played at the time.

Asma Salim Al Hajri, deputy director general for tourism promotion at the Sultanate of Oman Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, said: “Connections Luxury Middle East is a valuable addition to the luxury tourism calendar and has proven to generate an extraordinary value of business for companies as a result of attending. We are proud to once again partner with Connections Luxury Middle East as the country host, providing an unparalleled platform for Oman to showcase our rich cultural heritage and diverse tourism offerings to a senior audience of leading travel companies from the GCC and beyond.”

Greg Reeves, managing director of Connections, added: “We are thrilled to be returning to Muscat to host our Middle East flagship event with the Sultanate of Oman Ministry of Heritage & Tourism. Our second edition has grown by 64%, as we welcome new luxury buyers, leading suppliers and selected press and media to be inspired, experience the destination and do business in the Connections Way.”
